A Garden shard that came apart facing the wrong way and has been drawn to whatever is in front ever since. Fuchsia is the only marble the other twenty-three have a shared opinion about.

How Fuchsia races

Fuchsia goes where the leader is. Not faster, not stronger — sideways, constantly, toward the front of the race. Whoever leads a Fuchsia race is racing with company they did not ask for, and the whole grid can see it happening from the top of the track.

Whoever is leading, Fuchsia is arriving. There is no speed in it at all — only proximity.

What it costs

Arriving beside a leader is as likely to launch them forward as to disrupt them. Fuchsia's power helps its victim about half the time, and Fuchsia has no way to tell which half today is.

The tell

Horns, and pupils locked onto the leader rather than the track. Fuchsia is looking at a marble, and it is never its own.

Cobalt's entire game is refusing to move sideways, and Fuchsia's entire game is arriving sideways at whoever is in front. When Cobalt leads, Fuchsia is already on the way — and Cobalt is the slowest marble on the grid at recovering a lane, so it costs Cobalt more than it costs anybody else.

Fuchsia does not especially want to win this. Fuchsia wants Cobalt not to.
