The Line and the Leech
One holds a lane against everything. One is what "everything" means.
Cobalt's entire game is refusing to move sideways, and Fuchsia's entire game is arriving sideways at whoever is in front. When Cobalt leads, Fuchsia is already on the way — and Cobalt is the slowest marble on the grid at recovering a lane, so it costs Cobalt more than it costs anybody else.
Fuchsia does not especially want to win this. Fuchsia wants Cobalt not to.
