AZURE

The Drifter

Takes the widest line available. Occasionally it is the fastest.

The shard

A shard that went sideways out of the break and never fully stopped. Azure kept the Trench's calm and none of its discipline, which the other three find difficult to discuss.

Everyone else is fighting over the middle. Have it.

AZURE

How Azure races

Azure runs the walls. Given any choice of route it takes the outside — the long way round, hugging whichever edge is nearer, wide through everything. On a track where the middle is a slaughterhouse this is inspired. On any other track it is simply further.

The signature

The Widest Line

Out to the nearest wall and along it, through sections the rest of the field is cutting.

What it costs

The outer walls are the deadest surfaces on the descent — low bounce, high friction. Azure spends the race in permanent contact with the slowest material available.

The tell

Eyes fully open, always, and a body that is never in the middle of the screen. If you have lost Azure, look at the edges.

The voice

Hear Azure

A wandering "wee-yu-YEE" that opens out in the middle and drifts upward the whole way. Going nowhere in particular and enjoying it.

In the race mix — C5, 523 Hz, Wall only

Only wall contacts sound. Azure is audibly always at the edge, and audibly never in traffic.

Rivalries

Azure AZURE

The Narrowest and the Widest

Deep Blue teammates with exactly opposite instincts.

Teal TEAL

Teal takes the centreline through every choke on the descent — the shortest way and the busiest. Azure takes whichever wall is nearer — the longest way and the emptiest. They are the same decision made twice with the sign flipped, on the same team, in the same colours.

In a heavy field Azure is right. In a clean one Teal is right. Neither has ever conceded this.
